There is finally a working PPA for Ubuntu 9.10 here: https://launchpad.net/~lwh/+archive/pana/+packages . If anyone would like to help test them (and other packaging systems) on other versions of Linux it’d be appreciated. Email me if you’re interested.
Pana Audio Player
i just testet the package on ubuntu lucid 32bit and it works fine at first glance
it seems your package is missing the musicbrainz functionality, the button “Fill Tags Using MusicBrainz” is greyed out
I installed it on Kubuntu 10.04 lucid 64bit and it works without problem. I could even use my old collection.db from amarok 1.4 after some small modifications with sqlitebrowser.
nice to hear it runs, I tried on lucid first but there is something wrong with it when running as a virtual machine, it’s so slow it’s unbearable so I had to use 9.10
I added musicbrainz and uploaded it to Launchpat, its 1.4.16-17
thanks it works
Sweet, works pretty nice.
One thing I think should be done is Jack support. My whole home is running under Jack, hehe, which makes Pana pretty useless for me. Back to Amarok with custim xine
Can you use jack support through another engine? Build pana with xine and add xine jack support?
How long before the 32bit debs will be posted?
they are available already

Doesn;’t the PPA let you install i386 or amd64? I rebuilt it without the typo of i686 for i386 and uploaded it https://launchpad.net/~lwh/+archive/pana/+packages
in 1.4.17-6 the visualizations are missing. i think libvisual (-dev) is needed for this
At the time I posted that, the i386 version wasn’t there, hence the question.
It did install now. However, I’m getting a strange error referring to KDE Mail when I try and connect to the device. When I acknowledge the error by clicking OK, Pana closes down.
Yeah 1.4.17-6 I made after seeing your comment, the ones before that had a typo that stopped launchpad from building the i386 version
Sounds like Pana is crashing on you, can you paste that KDE Mail into your normal email program and mail it to pana@bunnies.net ?
Guys this is unbelievable, pana works like a charm
this is is what i’ve been looking for since the most fucked up player ever amarok2 was released.
BIG thanks to you.
Grait!
I’ve just installed it in Ubuntu 10.10 (32bits), and it works! It’s the same Amarok 1.4! I like it.
Thanks!!!
And I’ve had to install this: ruby ruby1.8 libruby1.8
to evoid small error messages when next song is loaded.
